MORNING AND LATE NIGHT - MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

Breakfast!!! I love breakfast (except at early morning normal breakfast times) Buttermilk gives me my fix at brunch-time and late-night so it gets a high five!

They have a menu that usually stays the same with a couple specials that are new and amazing.

The pancake bites are where it's at - black velvet with melty chocolate chips and a dollop whipped butter/cream cheese amazingness on top. I've tasted the cake donuts and the french toast sticks and they were pretty magic too. The garlic rosemary hashbrowns are like little crispy fried balls of yummy mash potatoes. The one thing I wasn't that impressed with was the hawaiian sliders - runny eggs aren't my bag.

For some reason I've lucked out the 2 times I've been to Buttermilk and haven't had to wait in ridiculous lines, but have a lot of friends who think the lines are always too long... bring a book kind of long. On the plus side everything is made to order... so at least the food is fresh after you wait that long.

Who doesn't love a good french fry? Through some extra yumminess on top and you can make a meal out of fries... sounds pretty genius to me.

Their menu is ALWAYS changing - with lots of yummy surprises. But they seem to always have Chili Cheese Fries, Vegan Chili Cheese Fries, Kimchi Fries, and some variety of steak and chicken Fries. and you always have the choice of regular or sweet potato fries.

Some friends and I did a taste testing of each other's concoctions while drinking at Big Foot West. I was really impressed with my Rajas Fries (I'm a sucker for peppers and carmelized onions) and the steak was flavored and cooked well. The Veggie Chili Fries, and BBQ chicken fries I sampled from my friend's plates were also pretty tasty. They usually have a homemade cookie of the night and lots of fun flavors of soda from independant vendors. While fast food usually isn't seen as eco-friendly at the end of the night they drain the fry oil to fuel the truck ride home and to park up the next day. I've never seen or experienced an overwhelming line at frysmith - they keep things moving!

Probably the most well known of all the food trucks around town the korean/mexican fusion is pretty yummy and deserves the hype.

Their menu covers most bases any picky eater can ever ask for

Tacos ($2) or Burritos ($5) come stuffed with Short Ribs, Spicy Pork, Chicken, or Tofu

They also offer Hot Dogs, Sliders, Quesadillas, and Deserts that tend to rotate depending on what is fresh and any magic recipes the chefs can come up with for that day.

The mix of tastes is unique and even as wacky as some of their specials sound I've always been surprised by how well some odd flavors go together. If I'm not feeling as adventurous I usually go with the Short Rib Tacos or the Kimchi Quessadillas. The lines can get long depending on the day and where they are set up, I'll usually give up and go somewhere else if it's more than 20 people deep, it is worth it if you've never had it before - but I've been known to get impatient about my food.

Hi!

I love food from trucks - and the thought of an aspiring restauranteur being able to open a place to call their own with low overhead and a mobility that allows them to get the word out about their best dishes. So I decided to start a blog about it... I'm going to attempt write about a truck a day.... let me know what you think about these places or if there's a hidden gem I should try. Hope you enjoy!

TACO ZONE

Starting with my go to roach coach... this taco truck is a couple blocks from my house and I usually end up there before a night out if I can't be bothered to cook, or after a long night out and need something tasty before I crawl into bed.

They have a simple menu that is well done - Tacos, Quesadillas, and Burritos

You pick your meat - Carne Asada, Pollo, Carnitas, Al Pastor, Suadero, Veggie, Lengua, Buche, Cabeza, Tripa, etc

Then load up at the salsa bar - red, green, pico, pickles, etc

It's simple and delicious - their salsa's are what makes this truck a cut above the rest, the red and green salsas mixed together makes this girl's mouth happy. Tons of free parking in the Vons parking lot and friendly service are an added bonus. You may find a long line around 2am on weekends, but those ladies move fast and you'll be outta there before you know it...
